Foo Fighters
The legendary Foo Fighters finally came to Oslo, and I was there shooting for Rockman at a sold-out Unity Arena. I arrived early, partly because traffic around the venue was challenging due to extensive roadwork, and partly because Foo Fighters are known for having a very strict photography policy. Access is usually tightly controlled, with contracts and restrictions that can make it difficult for media photographers. Fortunately, the great team at Live Nation managed to secure us access for the first three songs. Not from the photo pit itself, but from behind the Golden Circle, still a welcome opportunity considering the circumstances. Since I was already at the venue early, I stopped by the accreditation pickup point to see if there was any chance of photographing the support acts as well. No luck this time, unfortunately, so it was a matter of waiting until shortly before Foo Fighters took the stage. As always, the security staff at Unity Arena were professional, friendly, and helpful. Seven photographers were cleared for the shoot, and once we were escorted into position, it was time to make the most of the brief window we had. I brought my Nikon Z8 paired with the 70–200mm f/2.8 and managed to capture some strong shots despite the distance and challenging conditions. Three songs go by quickly, and before long we were escorted back out again. That’s concert photography sometimes, a lot of waiting, a few intense minutes of shooting, and then it’s all over. But when the subject is Foo Fighters, those few minutes are worth it.
